Questions You Should Be Asking
Many patients are not aware of the questions that they should be asking their orthodontist. Below are a list of questions and answers that you should be aware of. Dr. Gary Larsen, the developer of the Accurate Braces system answers each of these questions for you.
Do You Extract Teeth for Orthodontic Treatment?
The Accurate Braces system is based on a philosophy of non-extraction. A tooth extraction is really an amputation. You’re actually amputating a part of your body that serves a purpose and was never meant to be removed. You simply should not have any of your teeth removed for orthodontic purposes because it ultimately causes a narrow smile and could end up causing your face to sag or droop as you get older. And in some cases the tongue doesn’t have room, so it goes back down the throat, which can cause snoring and possibly even the more serious problem of obstructive sleep apnea. Additionally, certain extraction treatments can cause jaw joint problems (or TMJ problems). The bottom line is that you should not have your teeth extracted.
What Will My Finished Smile Look Like?
The accurate braces system is so advanced and precise that we allow you to see what your expected smile will look like before we even get started. We actually “work in reverse” and start off with the finished image of your own mouth and smile that you get to see and approve before we begin treatment.
Do You Offer a Lifetime Guarantee?
Your orthodontist should be able to guarantee his treatment if his treatment is effective. In our case, because of the precision of the Accurate Braces system, we can actually offer our patients a lifetime guarantee that is legitimately good for life. As long as our patients follow their simple maintenance rules, we guarantee their smile for life. What that means is this—if your teeth shift and you ever need braces again, we’ll put them on for FREE.
Do you have extensive experience with TMJ?
Many people aren’t aware of this, but some orthodontic treatment can cause serious pain or injuries in the future. For example, the Temporomandibular joint (or TMJ) if negatively affected can cause pain, headaches, and other related problems if your orthodontist is not familiar with this delicate part of the jaw. Again, the Accurate Braces system was developed with this in mind so that we can help prevent any issues or problems with the TMJ that sometimes develops as a result of orthodontic treatment. I’ve been fortunate to study directly under the Director of the TMJ Institute of America and I’ve incorporated that training into the Accurate Braces system.
